I just realized I never posted pics of Ryan's room.  So here they are…

He's Here!!

So I'm a month and a half late with this post, I blame it on trying to adjust to 2 kiddos! But Ryan Phillip Zucchelli was born on Dec. 5 at 8:17am. He weighed 6lbs 15oz and was 19.5in long. I didn't put much thought into how much he was going to weigh until I was on the operating table. I guessed 6lbs 6oz, and John guessed 7lbs 2oz. John's getting pretty good at this guessing business!  The csection was scheduled at 7:45am. We got to the hospital at 6:15, they got me checked in right away, and everything got started. The csection went as smooth as can be expected, but this time around I felt a lot more pressure during the procedure than I did with Rylee. When the Dr. was actually getting Ryan out it felt like a 50lb weight on my chest and I could feel a TON of pulling. Needless to say, I was more than ready to be done after Ryan came out!! The other difference from the first time around was that I was SUPER tired (like couldn't keep my eyes open!) once I made it to the recovery room and I was nauseous. I had to ask John the next day about conversations I had with people because I couldn't remember from being so tired!! The only thing I can think of that would have caused this is a different type of pain medicine. Other than that, everything went about the same as it did with Rylee. I was never in a ton of pain and I made it out of the hospital on day 3, which was also my 30 BIRTHDAY.  I was so grateful to be out of the hospital and spend the evening with John, Rylee, and Ryan.

So far, Ryan has been such a good baby! He sleeps well at night and rarely cries unless he has to get his diaper changed.  John and I have actually been getting some decent sleep, a lot better than we ever did with Rylee!! Heck, I fed the kid at 10pm last night and he didn't wake up until 6:30am! Since we brought him home, I have always done his last feeding between 10-11pm, and each week he slowly stretched the "overnight" feeding starting around 3am and now we are past 6am :)  He also eats well and is filling out a lot faster than I remember Rylee doing.  He also is a pro at nursing.  He latched on from the start and I haven't had a problem since (yet another difference between him and Rylee).  He is grown out of newborn clothes and is into the 3 month stuff.  His newborn diapers made it about 3 weeks before we had to move up to size 1.  We did find out after a horrible diaper rash that Ryan may have a bit of a diary intolerance, which means I also get to act like I have a diary intolerance :(  Apparently the diary (and/or tomato products) causes his poo to be extra acidic (sorry if that's TMI!), and hence the diaper rash.  Now looking back, he did get extra uncomfortable when he had too poo and was gassy.  The plus side for me is that this baby weight should drop off of me quick since my sweet tooth is getting kicked to the curb!

Rylee has been such a great big sister to Ryan, even better than I expected!!  She was a little iffy at the hospital when my mom brought her up, I'm guessing just because it was such a strange environment and she didn't understand why John and I had to stay at the hospital.  She was certainly ready for us to come home!  Once we got home, though, even the first night, she wanted to hug and kiss on her new baby brother!!  She never got jealous, which I was expecting at least a little bit.  So far, she still likes to hold him and give him hugs and kisses…she even likes to throw away the dirty diapers!

I can't believe Christmas has already come and gone.  The Christmas season seemed to go by so fast this year!  I guess that's what happens when you have a newborn, everything becomes a big blur!!  Rylee made out like a bandit with all her new toys and poor Ryan mainly just got clothes.  Thankfully, he doesn't know any different ;)  I have been enjoying my time off, but it has certainly been going by fast.  It was great to have the time off during the holidays though!  I am already dreading having to go back to work, but at least this time around I am able to work at home once I do have to go back.  Going back for a full week when I had Rylee was a lot tougher than I expected!  Enough talk about going back to work, I still have more than a month left and am going to enjoy every minute of it!!

Oh, and Ryan was baptized on January 12th, which also just so happened to be the day the Catholic Church celebrated Jesus's baptism!  And, we happened to be the only baptism for the day, which is highly unusual at the church we go to.  At Rylee's, there were at least 10 baptisms on the same day.  It was nice to feel like his baptism was a little more personable.

And here is our life in pictures (and some of Ryan's newborn pics too!):

Were getting so close!! (35 weeks)

4 weeks left (and only 4 more trips into the office), but who’s counting ;)  The “uncomfortable” part of this pregnancy is slowly creeping in.  I’m actually still not too bad, but I am ready to meet this little man J  I know the next 4 weeks are going to go fast, and I am starting to get a little nervous about having a newborn, but at least I will be able to get some snuggle time in again.  I still sneak in a snuggle or two with Rylee, but they are few and far between.  I’m trying to mentally prepare myself for having a c-section for the second time around, hopefully it goes as smooth as the first one.  I think I am a little more nervous this time around only because I know what is going to happen.  We have decided on a name, I think...  Well actually, we decided on the name a while ago, but I have finally come to terms with it ;)  It always takes me a while.  For whatever reason, we haven’t told anybody the name yet, so you will just have to wait and see if we decide to reveal it before or after the birth!

We had so much fun for all of the good fall activities: pumpkin patch, apple orchard, and of course, Halloween!

I absolutely love going to the pumpkin patch and the yummy food that comes with it, caramel apples and kettle corn (and we added a new one – warm mini chocolate chip cookies)!!  We bought some at the pumpkin patch, but then I decided it wasn’t enough, so I made more caramel apples and caramel corn in the weeks that followed ;)  Well, if I am being totally honest, I also made a huge batch of pumpkin bread and then some yummy Halloween cupcakes with a chocolate chip cookie in it!  This baby needs to get here before I overload on sweets in our house!  We have learned from the past that the best time to go to Vala’s is on a weekday, because it is CrAzY on the weekends.  The lines at least are not a mile long.

We also made it to an apple orchard in Ceresco, NE.  It was a pretty small family run orchard, but they had lots of kid play areas throughout the orchard, so we had fun!  We picked a ton of apples and brought home another pumpkin.

And lastly, HALLOWEEN.  Rylee was a pirate this year and I made her pirate skirt that turned out super cute.  It was a tutu made out of ribbon and scrap fabric.  We went to a little trick-or-treat thing at UNO and there happened to be a pirate show that they put on and one of the pirate ladies had a real parrot!  I thought for sure Rylee would be scarred of it, but nope, she went right up to the lady and wanted to feed the darn thing!  Due to my fear of birds, I made sure to stand back and just take the pictures!!  Halloween night we trick-or-treated with Braxton, the neighbor across the street.  Rylee and Braxton were too cute!!  Rylee kept poking his Dinosaur belly with her pirate sword and then he would try to get her with his tail.  By the end, they were both worn out and had a ton of candy!

3rd Trimester and Rylee’s 3 (28 weeks)!!

I made it to the 3rd trimester!!!  I think I have probably said this before, but I can’t believe how fast this pregnancy has gone by.   This little stinker is going to be here VERY soon.  There isn’t too much to update since we found out what we were having, which is what I felt like when I was pregnant with Rylee too.  It seems like the second half is just a waiting game.  I have been feeling really good, other than just a growing belly.  I can still breath good (rather than feeling like I was suffocating with Rylee) and I haven’t had to break out the body pillow to sleep yet!  I feel like I had to sleep with that darn body pillow for a long time while I was pregnant with Rylee to sleep somewhat comfortably, but so far I have been sleeping pretty good this time around!  I did have my 28 week doctor’s appointment last week and got to drink the infamous orange drink for my glucose test, which also meant that I had to have my blood drawn again L  The person who took my blood was much faster this time, so I didn’t get to the point of feeling like I was going to pass out.  However, I also had to get another Tdap shot – so my left arm was feeling it after we left that appointment.  I had a Tdap shot while I was still in the hospital after having Rylee, but they recommend it now during every pregnancy so the whooping cough part of the vaccine can transfer to the baby since they can’t get that vaccine when they are a newborn.  They also wanted to give me the flu shot, but I talked them into holding off until my next appointment!  I think we are also getting to the point on deciding on a name!!  It’s actually the name I had in mind all along, but it always takes me awhile to get completely comfortable with it (same thing happened when trying to decide Rylee’s name).  I will hold off a little while longer in revealing it, though, until I am 100% sure J  I have slowly been accumulating baby boy clothes when I go to Target each week for grocery shopping.  I feel like I had to barely buy anything for Rylee during her first year because we got so much clothes from baby showers, but since I am not having a shower this time around, there is A LOT of clothes I need to stock up on!  It is fun being able to buy baby boy stuff this time around!  His nursery is almost ready too!  We just finished painting his room, the crib is set up, and we moved Rylee’s old dresser into the room.  I just have a few things to make for the walls, and it should be all ready to go!

I can’t believe Rylee is 3 already!!  She is starting to turn into a little girl and I can’t seem to make it stop J  Good thing we have another one coming  along to give me a baby back!  On her actual birthday, we went to the zoo.  She LOVES the carousel, so we let her ride it twice since it was her birthday ;)  We then celebrated with family and friends with a zebra themed birthday party.  This is the first year Rylee understood what a birthday party was and she was soooo excited about it.  She made sure we had balloons, streamers, goody bags, birthday cake, and, of course, presents!  She got so many new toys, I don’t think she knows what to do with them all.  I think her favorite one was a Doc McStuffins doctor set, which of course came from her best friend across the street, Braxton ;)  We just took her 3 year/family professional pictures, and I am anxiously awaiting to see them!  This year, we walked around the Old Market and just snapped pictures in front of all the fun doorways, alleys, vines, etc.  I have seen a few “teasers” our photographer posted to her facebook page, which only makes it worse, because I want to see them ALL!!  It is finally feeling like fall outside and I cannot wait to go to the pumpkin patch (to take Rylee of course ;)).  We are going to try to make it to an apple orchard this year too.  I think Rylee will have fun picking apples, and it’s another excuse to enjoy fall!
