Mr. and Mrs. Brent McCall weekend

Another long, but definitely fun weekend for this very pregnant lady – now in my LAST trimester. Kellie Ryan is now officially Kellie McCall! The wedding festivities began for me on Friday night in Onawa, IA (about an hour north of Omaha), for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. I chose comfort over gas money, so John and I drove home Friday night – I would otherwise have had to probably sleep three to a bed. Slumber parties are fun, but not when you need 5 pillows to get comfortable in your own bed! Saturday was an early start with a hair appointment at 8am in Omaha, then a rush home and back up to Onawa. Being that I drive to Lincoln for work, the drive was really pretty quick. My seamstress lady worked a miracle on my dress because she even gave me a little extra breathing room – a much needed comfort being that my lungs are already becoming smushed. I went for flats this time around, and was very happy with that decision. I didn’t have to worry about having to take an “injury time out” half way down the isle! Now that my posture is all out of whack, my back wasn’t able to handle as much dancing as bridesmaids are known for, but I think I still did my fair share because I was definitely wiped out on Sunday.

Apart from wedding news, with this third trimester has also come the dreaded swelling. I was putting on lotion one night, and noticed the inside of my ankles were gone and my feet looked a little more plump than normal. I guess I truly have an excuse now to relax and put my feet up! So far, I haven’t encountered any stretch marks, but I am sure it’s only a matter of time :( For now, I will just keep bathing myself in coco butter.

A few fun notes from the daddy angle, this little one doesn’t like to cooperate in letting John feel her move. The second John puts his hand on my belly, she stops. Well on Father’s day, I was giving John a hug after giving him his 1st Father’s day card, and she kicked him! Being that John has only felt her move a handful of times, it was a pretty funny moment. I guess it was her way of saying Happy Father’s Day. A second funny/cute moment happened in Target. I was in the dressing room trying on some much needed new clothes, and when I came out, John was nowhere in sight. I finally found him searching through baby girl clothes. Once he saw me he turned around with a big grin, holding up a pink onesie, and asked if we could get it. I couldn’t turn him down.

I think my brain might explode

The crib and dresser/changing table are finally put together and are looking good. It’s pretty crazy to think we will have a baby sleeping in the crib in just 3 short months – exciting but scary at the same time! The baby’s room will be where our current guest bedroom is, and our guest bedroom will move downstairs once it is completed. So for now, the baby’s room is kind of cramped with all the guest bedroom furniture and her furniture. However, since getting everything put together, it has definitely boosted me into the shopping mode. We still need to buy her mattress and bedding…along with about 100 other things! I’m hopping a baby shower might help with some of it. My stepmom and her neighbors want to throw us a couple’s baby shower, so I am definitely looking forward to that. Oh crap, I guess that means I should probably get to babies-r-us to register!!

John FINALLY felt her move. It’s seriously the cutest thing ever to see his face light up when he gets to be apart of this whole experience. Our friend Lerum came over later that day to help with some landscaping and John made sure to do a reenactment of her “kick” for him – picture John doing a karate move and that pretty much sums it up!

A few other thoughts that consume my brain at work revolving around baby stuff: finding a part-time babysitter (#1 stressor), pediatrician, insurance, labor and what it will really be like, what she will look like, her health, her name (we are getting close but not 100% sure yet), how much sleep I won’t be getting very soon, the amount of “baby stuff” that needs to be bought, knowing that I need to register, how uncomfortable my pants are, why in the heck my bra has become my most uncomfortable piece of clothing, breast feeding and having the joy of pumping at work (we have a “pump room,” but still definitely weird), how good a cold alcoholic drink would be, etc, etc, etc. Having a baby is an incredibly exciting time, just mix in a little scared, nervous, and anxious!

Ultrasound Pics

Sorry these are a little late. I was only given pictures when we went and I don't have a scanner so I just took a picture of the pictures with my camera - hence the reason why they aren't very clear.

This is her profile picture with her feet above her head:

This is a picture of her little butt and the bottom of her feet. The arrow is pointing to the area that makes her a girl.

And this is her foot if you can't read the caption.

Orange Drinks and Golfing

Today was the day for my glucose test. Luckily my doctor gave me my "yummy" orange drink during my last appointment, so I just had to down it an hour before my appointment today. I had heard that it tasted horrible, but honestly, coming from a person who gags on cough medicine and alkaseltzer, it really wasn't too bad. I thought it just tasted like orange soda. When I got to the doctor's office, I had to have my blood drawn right away - exactly one hour after drinking the orange tasting concoction. Getting my blood taken again wasn't too bad, minus the fact that it felt like the lady took some aggression out by stabbing me as hard as she could. Later in the day, I got a call from the nurse saying everything came back normal. No diabetes for me!!

I had the day off, so after my appointment, John took me golfing to try out my new golf clubs!! We got to the course a little early to hit some balls at the driving range, little did we know, the golf course didn't have a driving range. Very bad news for me!! After the first hole, I thought it was going to be a llllllooooonnnngggg day, but luckily my golfing abilities came back by the second and third holes. I was pretty happy with how I did. I think with a little more practice, I might have to embarrass John by making him lose to his pregnant wifey. Now that I have a decent set of clubs, golfing might have to be my new past time :)

I never actually carried my clubs, I was just posing for the pic. Golfing at 25 weeks!

Memorial Day weekend fun

We had a great weekend full of wedding festivities, bbqs, and our anniversary – exhausting, but fun! Franny’s wedding festivities started on Thursday night and the wedding was a blast even if I couldn’t drink. The dance floor was always full, which always makes for a very fun reception. However, I did learn that I am going to have to retire the heels, at least until after this baby is born. I only had my heels on for the ceremony, and I thought my calves were going to explode. It kind of felt like right before I get calf cramps in the middle of the night, so in order to avoid actually getting one in the middle of the next wedding I am in, I think I will be opting for flats! I think I will also retire the spanks – much needed to keep my growing butt in place, but the little one probably lost some circulation for a couple hours. I’ll be short, fat, but comfy for the next wedding!

Sunday we had two bbqs to go to, both of which had great food – baby Zucchelli was quite happy with that, and momma too! Maggie got to tag along for the day, which she was pretty happy about since she had to stay home by herself all day on Saturday. Our friends Cara and Steve had one of the bbqs and they also have a dog named Duke that is pretty much a black version of Maggie. They got to play their little doggie hearts out for a good two hours.

We finally got to relax a little on Monday and celebrate our 2nd anniversary. It’s great that our anniversary will sometimes fall during Memorial Day weekend. We have now made it an annual tradition to watch our wedding video. Speaking of which, if anybody is in the middle of planning a wedding (ehem…Allison), please do yourself a favor and splurge for a videographer. It is definitely worth it. Oh, and John got me golf clubs (after a few hints from me). We’re trying to stick with the “anniversary present themes” and cotton is the theme for 2nd anniversaries. I argued that the golf bag was made of cotton. I also stuck with the golf theme (and cotton), and bought John a cotton golf shirt, a cotton golf towel, and a gift card to a golf course. I have been told that prego ladies have a great golf swing, so I am going to give it a try on Friday. Being that I haven’t hit a golf ball in like 5 years, let’s hope my prego golfing abilities kick it into gear (and for the safety of all the other golfers on the course)!
(Had to post a pic of from our wedding in celebration of our anniversary)
