On Rylee's actual birthday, September 13th, we took Rylee to the zoo and her Uncle Steve tagged along too. I think she enjoys the zoo more each time she goes, and I think it might just be because she is more aware of everything around her. We had a lot of fun and Rylee got to go on a carousel for the first time with mommy. She was a little freaked out at first about all the crazy looking animals to ride on, but once it started moving she was fine.
Rylee's birthday party was a lot of fun! She got to wear a birthday outfit made just for her and I made all of her decorations. We had a great turnout, awesome weather, and ate tons of yummy food - smoked pulled pork sandwiches (made by Papa Tom), jambalaya, fruit salad, pasta salad, and an Abby Cadabby cake for dessert. Rylee's slowly getting the hang of opening presents, but she still doesn't care so much about opening them. She of course got spoiled though! She did much better this year with her cake. We practiced blowing out the candles on her actual birthday so by the time her party came around, she was a pro. She also ate her cake much better than on her first birthday since she was able to use a fork (Rylee's not a big fan of getting messy) :)
We were actually lucky we were all healthy by the time her birthday rolled around. Rylee got into some poison ivy in August that seriously covered her little body. LUCKILY it did not seem to itch too bad for her or it would have been a nightmare and she would have been miserable. That stuff seemed to take forever to completely go away and when it finally did, Rylee then caught some yucky virus that gave her a temp at times into the 104s! Thankfully, I have friends that are pediatricians that I can call when the Dr's office is closed (it was the Sunday of Labor Day weekend)! She looked so pitiful when her temp was that high, but with a little rest and tylenol, it finally went away after a few days. Let me tell you about going into mommy panic mode when that thermometer read above 104 degrees!!
Rylee is slowly getting the hang of going potty on her potty chair. When we are home, we just leave her without any bottoms on and she just goes potty on the potty chair when she needs to. She then of course runs to the cabinet yelling "M & M's"!!! We have yet to leave the house without putting a diaper on her, but hopefully we will be able to master that soon! We will also be transitioning Rylee out of her crib once her last two molars come in, so after that, all aspects of my baby will be gone :(
I think the hot temps have finally went away for good and fall has arrived!! We have enjoyed a lot of play time outside and can't wait to visit the pumpkin patch - I can't wait for the smell of hay and kernal corn at Vala's!!!
